We excited as we grow to add to our amazing team!  We are looking for Controller who will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company.  The Controller will have an extensive knowledge of GAAP, and will be responsible for general ledger accountability, financial analysis, financial reporting, financial profitability analysis, other special projects/reporting as assigned.  They will be able to analyze complex financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, along with budget development.

Critical Duties:

  • All aspects of the quarterly and annual accounting close and financial reporting cycles – including balance sheet and income statement preparation.
  • Fielding requests for internal and external audit, researching technical accounting, and performing accounting review functions.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Provides detailed financial analysis for both internal review as well as 3rd party management clientele on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management; and reconciliation of case disbursement accounts.
  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.

Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):

  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Partners with various departmental and asset management stakeholders while fostering an integrated approach to accounting accuracy, oversight and support in all areas of our business.
    • Provide asset management team portfolio performance data, tracking return metrics for each portfolio, reviewing debt obligations and ensuring accurate and timely payment processing for onsite property management teams.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of property and/or real estate accounting experience required.
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus.
  • General office, bookkeeping and sales skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
  • ResMan Property Management Software experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines.
  • CPA/CMA/MBA preferred.
